The Ford Mustang SVT Cobra is one of the most together automotive packages there are. Sure, the interior quality and engine efficiency didn’t set the world on fire, but as far as a platform to modify, you’d be hard pressed to get anything better. -

While prices haven’t exploded for the Volvo P1800 like they have for other European classics of similar vintage, there are plenty of indicators that suggest that when this candle goes off, it’ll burn for a long, long time. -

This Honda S2000 takes the beaten-to-death formula of peppy engine and small roadster and makes it the reliable platform it was always meant to be. -

2007 Pontiac G8 GT
This Pontiac G8 GT is the four door Corvette that existed before the words "hell" and "cat" existed in the vocabulary of the average car nut. It’s available with a manual transmission, and sounds better than anything this side of a Maserati. -

The "FD" Mazda RX-7 is the most beautiful Japanese car ever made. The car won't be dated in the next hundred years and it has the last great turbocharged rotary engine made in a production car. Get one now. Don't hesitate. -

2008 BMW M6
While this car developed a bad reputation for reliability and maintenance costs, it's one of the most fun cars you can buy, and the highly optioned manual examples are due to appreciate in the coming years, I'm sure of it. -

1993 Toyota MR2 Turbo
This car's mid-mounted turbocharged engine in a lightweight sports car is the formula that was made popular by cars ten times the original price. It punches way above its weight class, and it's due to have people appreciate it for its amazing value and driving experience. -

1991 Nissan 300ZX
This Nissan 300ZX Turbo was arguably the best Z car ever made. Sure, you might say that the 350Z was technically more nimble, but it was never quite as desirable as the earlier, over-engineered turbo Z cars - the two seater coupes especially. -

1993 Mitsubishi 3000 GT
It's a mini Nissan GT-R, with a crazy amount of technological advancement and driving fun. I have one and I'll never let it go. Later models are ultra rare, and worth getting at almost any price. -

1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX
It's not that this car was the fastest or best looking or most exclusive, but it did absolutely everything right. Its 2.0 Lancer Evo-inspired turbocharged engine made it a perfect platform for modification, and its looks have transcended its age, making it an absolutely great buy for any collector. These are extremely rare in stock condition, so make sure to buy the best example when it comes up.

2002 Chevrolet Corvette
If it was any more American, it would have an apple pie dispenser in the center console. The world's best bargain supercar, for less than the price of a used Hyundai – it doesn't get any better than that. -

1987 Porsche 944
Think of a car that symbolizes the 80s better than any other – other than a Lamborghini Countach. Of course, it's the Porsche 944, and fortunately for us, it doesn't (yet) command a $300k price tag that the Countach does – so grab it while you still can. -

2003 Pontiac Solstice
This Pontiac Solstice was one of the last-ditch efforts for GM to keep the Pontiac brand alive. It's a futuristic-looking, low-slung roadster that made no sense in Pontiac's repertoire, but I'm glad it's here. I'm double glad that it's so affordable. -

1988 Toyota Supra
While you can't get the MK4 Supra for this kind of money anymore, you can get an older, more mature example for next to nothing. Still just as easy to modify, and an amazing sleeper. Just remember to check the head gaskets. -

1988 Mazda RX-7
Like the Supra, the newer FD RX-7 is slowly becoming unobtanium, but its older FC variant, with a nearly identical 13B rotary engine, is super affordable, just as fun to drive, and becoming more and more collectible. -

2004 Pontiac GTO
This Pontiac GTO might just be the best performance value on the used car market. It has power comparable to any Corvette, looks to kill, and an exhaust note to wake up anyone in a five mile radius. -

2003 Mercedes SL55 AMG
There's one word for this car – legendary. Supercharged V8 with 500 horsepower and features most modern cars don't come with even today. It's a must-have at least once in your life. -

2004 Jaguar XKR
Remember Die Another Day? Remember how the bad guy's car was way cooler than James Bond's? Well, you'll be pleased to know that one of those exact cars, in good condition can be had for next to nothing. The Aston, however, not so much. Ejector seat not included. -

It may not be the most exclusive 911, but an entry-level 911 is still a heck of a lot of car for the money, and being a part of the Porsche owner's club changes you for life. -

2003 Volkswagen R32
Before the Golf R, there was the amazing all wheel drive, six cylinder powered R32, which made all the right noises, looked astonishing, and had limited enough production numbers that a buy today could mean an appreciated value in the future. Nostalgia and modern performance rolled into one awesome car.

1991 Cadillac Brougham
Here's a car that went from cool, to untouchable land-barge trash, back to cool again, and a good quality example will make you look like you won the lottery in the 80s and used every bit of it to make good investments. -

2004 Volkswagen Phaeton W12
While the people's car moniker does fly in the face of its original near-six-figure price tag, the fact that it's a de-tuned, naturally aspirated Bentley for the kind of money you'd pay for something with less than 4 wheels means that the one thing this car has in droves is presence and class. Also oil leaks. And repair bills. -

1977 Lincoln Continental
As cars like this Lincoln Continental are becoming desirable classics, it's harder to find them in good condition, but if you do find one in great shape, you're in for one of the best automotive luxury experiences ever. If you're into floating over the road, this is the car for you. -

2008 Maserati Quattroporte
Perhaps the most beautiful four door sports car ever made, with a Ferrari-derived engine, ZF automatic gearbox, and looks that scream "ask me about my portfolio." This is the year to get, and it will age beautifully, if you keep up with the maintenance, that is. -

2004 Porsche Cayenne Turbo
Porsche's first ugly duckling SUV is now looking more like a modern classic, and the fact that it has a turbocharged 4.5L V8, with enough grunt to uproot a house doesn't hurt either. Mall crawler it may be, but it sure is fast and expensive looking. -

2008 Lexus LS600h L
Take the regular LS460, add all wheel drive, lengthen it a bit and add a hybrid system, and you have the most luxurious, most technologically advanced car Lexus ever built up to that point. It can park itself, which could prove useful when your car is the length of an aircraft carrier. -

The fanciest of the fancy. Imagine an S-Class that went back to school to get a PhD in smooth. Originally the better part of $300,000, now yours for the price of a used Minivan. -

There is nothing that beats the feeling of driving an old Rolls Royce. Silent, comfortable, and timeless. Just make sure you have some extra mineral oil on hand, just in case. -

It may not be the most reliable car in the world, but depreciation sure has made this autobahn-destroying limousine attractive for the budget buyer. Keep some cash in your account for a rainy day and this should be a solid choice for at least a little while. -

The king of depreciation, exclusivity, and horsepower all in one car. Not only did this come with a $200k price tag when new, but its hand-built, 600-HP V12 is a close relative to the one in the Pagani Huayra. It may need a little bit of work, but with this vintage Ferrari, you'll be the savvy connoisseur at your next Cars and Coffee, without having to reverse mortgage your house to do it. -

2006 Cadillac XLR-V Standard
While Cadillac's answer to the Mercedes SL55 AMG may not have hit the mark initially, this car is now actually worth a bit more than the German, it'll cost less to maintain, and it's quite a bit more rare. -

While Jeremy Clarkson made fun of this car for being too soft, using this as a practical daily driver is one of the smartest things you can do. Ferrari-derived V8 and looks to die for. It's everything a modern Italian car should be without the designer price tag. -
